Last summer we were living in a hotel and wondering if we were ever going to find our perfect home. We had been traveling and bouncing through countless hotels and airbnbs for about 8 months- we were running out of patience and funds.
At this point we were living in one particular hotel for 2 months. Every morning I woke up with the gray sunlight streaking through the stained curtain, the smell of smoke and cackling laughter/ shouting via the neighbors and I was angry - always angry. Like two Betta fish in one bowl, Nathan and I became increasingly impatient with each other as we felt stuck.
We had already lost our home, our city, all our family and people we used to know - our root chakras were taking a beating.
Every time we visited a home to rent or spoke to a prospective landlord it would fall through for one reason or another and we just didn’t seem to make any traction. It’s like the universe wanted us to have this time, to be together, to learn to work together and to help each other in spite of less than ideal circumstances.
But we had our health and we had each other, we were not victims. We put ourselves in that situation and we were going to get out of it!
What is Home?
We began to click our heels together when we remembered one of our favorite people: Louise Hay. She has made some of the most wonderful affirmations on a variety of topics. We made our own affirmation track by choosing some of her affirmations combined with a few from The Game Of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scovel Shinn (find the audiobook here).
I recorded the affirmations and we listened to them over & over & over whenever possible.
Slowly, we began to think more positively. We looked around at the dirty walls of our little hotel room no longer with disgust, but instead with gratitude. We went out and got a mop, broom and a large stand-up light fixture to give a more homey feel. We cleaned and organized the entire room.
We took the hotel sheets, towels and shower curtain to a laundromat and washed it with our own laundry detergent. We put spices in the perimeter of the room to ward off the little hotel bugs. I remember catching myself thinking, “It’s really not that bad here”. In just a few days, our hotel room became a home instead of a prison.
We accepted our situation fully, while also consistently working to get out of it.
We diligently pressed on with visiting prospective homes and checking online platforms just as we did before, but this time with a different flavor. Each place we visited, we didn’t care about the outcome as much because “home” became our inner state, no longer just a physical place just out of reach.
According to “as within so without” we knew home had to manifest in the physical eventually.
Our relationship improved as well. Instead of finding fault with one another, we found home in each other.
Perhaps home was only a state of mind after all.
Instead of complaining about what we’ve lost, we became thankful for what we had.
Home was simply a state of mind.
Today we wanted to share this affirmation track with everyone because it has a very special place in our hearts.
After about 3 weeks of using these affirmations, we finally manifested our perfect place. In many ways it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for but at the same time, it was exactly what we needed and much more than we could have asked for.
We will always love these affirmations and we will always love that crappy hotel we called home for 3 months.

Torus geometry
An image of the Torus geometry is overlayed onto the video and the invisibility is set to almost 100%, to the point where you can’t even see it.
This is the image I overlayed on the video…
Why I chose the torus for this video…
The torus is the shape of our human energy fields. Our hearts emit a huge electromagnetic field which radiates in the shape of a beautiful torus. It is somewhat shaped like a doughnut, with energy constantly moving up and around, back inward, outward again and all around.
The energy is constantly recycling as it descends from source into matter, it can only go so low before circling back up and then back down again gaining energy with each cycle. When we are in a state of flow and are in harmony & balance with the universe, we cycle energy in a torus shape.
This shape can also represent manifestation by symbolizing a steady flow of energy from the divine into this physical reality.
Surrounding ourselves with the torus shape can be grounding and can help move stagnant blocked energy, to clear the way for the manifestation of our desires.
We can wear the torus as a pendant on the body, or use an image for open-eyed meditation, or place images - hand drawn or not - around the living space.
Whatever it is that you are currently manifesting, whether a home or something else, we wish you all the best in your journey…
